Weekly irish property new

Merry Christmas everyone!

Before we get stuck into the general property news of the week, which is unsurprisingly light this week, below are the local and international stories that might be of particular interest:

  • Earlier this month, the Property District team was proud to partner with Construction Network Ireland to launch the inaugural *CNI Persons of Impact* initiative for 2022. After a challenging few years, this is aimed at recognising the industry leaders who are making a difference. We asked members of the industry to help us to identify the real change-makers and they didn’t let us down! Huge thanks to everyone who voted at www.personsofimpact.ie . Lorraine Brady of  BAM Ireland and Michael O’Flynn of O’Flynn Group were named as *CNI Persons of Impact 2022*. Congratulations to both and to the over seven nominees 👏
  • The National Property Awards – Nominations are now open for the 2023 National Property Awards, which will take place at the InterContinental Hotel, Dublin on Thursday 9th March.  Companies are invited to submit in all applicable categories… NOMINATE NOW https://www.nationalpropertyawards.ie/categories/
  • 60% increase in incidents at Dunkettle area: 57 incidents were recorded last year within the Dunkettle construction site and immediate approach area, with 93 incidents recorded by the team in 2022 as of the first week of December https://www.echolive.ie/corknews/arid-4103294

If you missed last week’s round-up, you can catch up here: https://propertydistrict.ie/sunday-roundup/

As always, you might let me know if I have missed out on any relevant property news by emailing  carol@propertydistrict.ie.

(Apologies in advance for any typos, it’s difficult to get good help on a Sunday. Also, I use voice to text dictation so just sound out anything that really doesn’t make sense in a strong rural accent and that should help!)

CONSTRUCTION & DEVELOPMENT NEWS

  • An Bord Pleanála has issued an apology for the ongoing delay in issuing planning decisions, as it says it is not meeting its statutory deadlines for decisions in a “large number” of cases: The planning body said it only had “five functioning board members” at present out of the “standard complement of 10”, which is affecting its ability to meet targets. https://www.irishexaminer.com/news/arid-41034341.html
  • Mallow housing project subject to appeal after being given green light: Cork County Council had granted permission for the construction of a residential development of 96 dwelling units at the Old Course, Spaglen, Mallow, subject to conditions.  https://www.echolive.ie/corknews/arid-41031947.html
  • Old Distillery pub targeted for major apartment development: Planning statement by Keystone Planning Consultancy says the application “directly seeks to address dereliction, vacancy, and underutilisation” and the scheme has been “sensitively designed” https://www.echolive.ie/corknews/arid-41031938.html
