A housing developer had bought land in the village of Comber, Northern Ireland in order to build a 900 house development. In order for the planning office to approve the project, the housing developer had to deal with the aftermath of an unlicensed landfill site which had been operating on the land they had bought for the past 10 years.
The housing developer contracted ATG Group to provide a solution to this problem. Initial projections put the cost of excavating and legally disposing of the waste at approximately £7.5 million which would have made the development uneconomical. Through innovative planning, ATG Group were able to offer a solution which met planning requirements but was also affordable, ensuring that the development was still able to proceed.
