The Penang World Music Festival 2012 performed by Beoga from Ireland


The Penang World Music Festival (PWMF) from 30th March – 1st April 2012 saw 18 bands from across the world assembled in Penang to perform for three nights at an unique venue – The Quarry @ The Botanical Gardens.

The bands were Altan Urag (Mongolia), Gus Teja World Music (Bali — Indonesia), Kalja Riddim Klan (Vanuatu), Griff Trio (Belgium), Rentak Balai (Negeri Sembilan — Malaysia), Tori Ensemble (South Korea), ASEANA (Kuala Lumpur — Malaysia), Beoga (Ireland), Loyko (Russian), Maite Hontele (Colombia), The Grace Nono — Bob Aves Group (Philippines), Wild Marmalade (Australia), Guinee Percussion (Africa), Didit Dinal (Sarawak), Geng Wak Long (Kelantan — Malaysia), Phong Nguyen Esemble (Vietnam), The Penang Dhol Blasters (Penang — Malaysia), Will Crummer & The Rarotongans (New Zealand).

The PWMF was the initiatives of the Penang state government with the support of like title sponsor Plenitude – a property development company and supporting sponsors Malaysia Airlines, AirAsia, Hard Rock Hotel, Tanjung Bunga Beach Hotel, Hotel Royal Penang, Canon, Rapid Penang and others.

This is an event not to be missed by music festival lovers and the tentative date for the 2013 PWMF is set to take place on 30-31 March.
