Father Collins Park selected as one of the seven landmark projects in sustainability for Dublin City Council
At the launch of the Sustainable Dublin initiative on 5th November 2008 by the City Manager, John Tierney, Father Collins Park was selected as one of the seven landmark projects in sustainability for Dublin City Council.
DCC is currently completing construction of Irelands first sustainable city park in Donaghmede, north Dublin, which will be powered by wind. This landmark public park will form the heart of a new multi-cultural community as part of the North Fringe Area Action Plan. It promises to be one of the countrys most important contemporary designed landscapes to date, with an innovative approach to design and management of public parks.
In August 2003, DCC announced a two stage international design competition for a new urban park at Father Collins Park, Donaghmede. Construction began on site in September 2007 and the Park will be completed by spring 2009. The overall project budget is €20 million. The Park area is 22 hectares. Construction of the Park started in September 2007. The Park will open in spring 2009.
