President gives the opening address at the 2016 Irish Summit on the Sustainable Development Goals


President Michael D. Higgins spoke at an NGO summit meeting in Croke Park which focused on the question of what it takes to build societies that are truly ‘sustainable’.

“One of the basic premises of the new framework for sustainable development is that all countries are inherently unfinished projects. No country is ever fully ‘developed’; all of them are ‘developing countries’.”
