DNA & Irish Genealogy – where to now?


DNA testing has taken off in Ireland (and worldwide) in the past few years with over 15 million people in the databases. Several Irish initiatives have helped to spark this interest, including academic studies (such as the Irish DNA Atlas project), the Genetic Genealogy Ireland conferences (held in Dublin & Belfast), and the formation of the ISOGG Ireland group. But where is Irish genetic genealogy headed? And where will it be in 5 years time?

Advances in genetics are so rapid that even as this presentation was in preparation, developments occurred that will change how we use the public DNA databases.
