Cuningar Loop – Urban Woodland Park – Winner in SAQP Awards

Once derelict and inaccessible wasteland, Cuningar Loop is now an exciting urban woodland park. Always open and free to enter, it features bike trails, rock climbing, a riverside board walk and more. Close to Rutherglen, Dalmarnock and Parkhead it benefits the local communities and attracts visitors from further afield. Cuningar Loop’s transformation was driven by the partnership of Clyde Gateway, Forestry Commission and South Lanarkshire Council. Their work was recognised by the Scottish Quality in Planning Awards – winning the 2018 Partnership Award and the site has now won 2019 Excellence in Planning for Health and Wellbeing in the UK and Ireland awarded by the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI).
